The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity announced on April 8 that applications are now open for Fiscal Year 2026 Cycle 2 of the Going PRO Talent Fund, offering approximately $6 million in training grant funding to Michigan businesses. Employers have until April 24 to apply through their local Michigan Works! agency, with award announcements expected in June.
The program aims to help close skill gaps and build a more competitive workforce across the state. By providing resources for employer-driven training, the fund supports both current and newly hired employees as they work toward industry-recognized credentials and long-term career opportunities.
Since its launch in 2014, the Going PRO Talent Fund has awarded over $323.4 million to support nearly 9,000 businesses and more than 241,600 workers statewide. The grants can be used for various training models such as classroom instruction, on-the-job training for new hires, and Registered Apprenticeships. These options allow employers from sectors including agribusiness, construction, healthcare, information technology, manufacturing, mobility and others to address specific workforce needs.
Employers interested in applying are encouraged to contact their local Michigan Works! Service Center for guidance throughout the application process. More information about the fund is available at Michigan.gov/TalentFund.
