The Michigan Department of Transportation announced on April 8 that the Barney Road bridge over US-131 Business Route in Kalamazoo will be closed for repairs from April 13 to April 29.
The closure is necessary for maintenance work aimed at improving safety and extending the lifespan of the bridge. During this period, traffic will be detoured using Nichols Road, Ravine Road, and Douglas Avenue.
MDOT said the $193,938 investment in this project is expected to directly and indirectly support two jobs. The department maintains that regular maintenance such as this is essential for ensuring safe travel across Michigan’s transportation infrastructure.
