Congratulations to Lt. Michael Dortch on his 26 year law enforcement career.  He served in the United States Marine Corps and 2 previous law enforcement agencies before starting his career at the Ann Arbor Police Department in 1998.  

During his time at AAPD he worked as a patrol officer and detective before being promoted to Sergeant in 2016 and Lieutenant in 2020.  In addition, he was a SWAT team leader and narcotics officer.  In recent years, Lt. Dortch obtained his emergency management certification and led the department’s annual audit plan based on standards established by CALEA.
