City of Ann Arbor Police Department issued the following announcement on Feb 28.

Congratulations to Sgt. Shane Dennis on his retirement!  During his 25 year career he served as a patrol officer for 15 years and an undercover narcotics detective for 1 year before being promoted to patrol sergeant in 2013.  

He remained on patrol for 6 years before moving to the detective bureau for the final 3 years of his career.  In addition, he served in various capacities and leadership roles on the Ann Arbor Special Tactics Unit/Washtenaw Metro SWAT for 18 years; department firearms Instructor/chief firearms instructor for 9 years and active shooter training instructor for 5 years.  

He earned multiple awards for his service to the community including the AAPD’s Officer of the Year in 2010.  Enjoy retirement, Sgt. Dennis, and thank you for your service!

MDHHS seeks grant applications for anti-trafficking victim services

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is offering $2.1 million in grants for organizations serving human trafficking victims. Eligible groups are encouraged to apply online through the state’s electronic grant management system before late June deadlines.
