0Comments

Work on the I-94/Huron Street bridge continues as part of the MDOT trunkline maintenance and pedestrian pathway project. Next week only, there are nighttime lane closures on I-94 planned beginning Monday night/Tuesday morning, 6/20 through Friday night/Saturday morning, 6/25 from approximately 9PM to approximately 5AM.  Beginning next week and through at least August,  the NB Huron to WB I-94 ramp and the SB Huron (Hamilton) to EB I-94 ramp will remain closed.

  • One lane northbound and one lane southbound will remain open on Huron/Hamilton.
  • The ramp from NB Huron to WB 94 will be closed through at least August.
  • The ramp from SB Huron (Hamilton) to EB 94 will be closed through at least August.  UPDATE 6/29: THIS RAMP IS PLANNED TO BE CLOSED BEGINNING TUESDAY, 7/5.
  • I-94 under the bridge will be reduced to one lane in each direction nightly during the week of 6/20.

These closures are necessary to install safety equipment under the bridge to allow the work atop the bridge to proceed.   This nighttime work needs to be complete before topside work can proceed. Lane closures must remain in place during this time.

This project is part of a two-year planned improvement to the water, sewer, and road infrastructure within the City. The Ypsilanti Community Utilities Authority (YCUA), the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), and the City will be working together through 2023 to improve the safety of both our drinking water and our transportation system. This project will affect traffic on Huron from I-94 to Cross; Hamilton from I-94 to Washtenaw; Washtenaw from W. Cross to Hamilton; and Michigan from Ballard to the Huron River.  For more information please visit cityofypsilanti.com/roadrenovation.  To receive future construction traffic updates, please sign up to receive City news and public notices at cityofypsilanti.com/list.  Traffic shifts and closures on Hamilton, Huron, Michigan, West Cross, and Washtenaw are posted to MDOT’s Mi Drive Site.
