Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-06) released the following statement in response to the news of the new leadership at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit.

“My job is to ensure that all veterans in Michigan’s sixth district and southeast Michigan being treated at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center are getting the best care possible. I thank the Department of Veterans Affairs for listening to the concerns expressed by myself, patients, staff, and others that there were real issues at the John Dingell VA, and that they undertook action to investigate and address. Today’s announcement is an important step in bringing this investigation to a close and moving forward. I’m pleased that we will have a permanent administrator at the hospital soon, which will benefit employees, patients, and their families. I have already been in touch with Secretary McDonough, who has previously committed to coming to the VA for a town hall to have an honest exchange with the community and look forward having him in Detroit. I remain committed to making sure patients are going to get the care they deserve at the John Dingell VA.”
