Eastern Michigan University will host a regional Generative Artificial Intelligence Spring Summit on March 16, 2026. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the EMU Student Center and Halle Library in Ypsilanti. The summit, titled “Learning Together at the Forefront of Change,” is organized by the university’s Office of Campus and Community Writing.

Ann Blakeslee, professor of English at Eastern Michigan University and director of the Office of Campus and Community Writing, said, “The summit is designed to foster inclusive, community-centered conversations that recognize the diverse experiences, questions, and expertise participants bring to discussions about emerging technologies.”

The program will cover practical uses of generative AI in workplaces and education, ethical concerns, environmental impacts, and responsible use strategies across different sectors.

Objectives for the summit include encouraging peer learning and dialogue across various fields, creating a regional network for ongoing discussion about artificial intelligence, examining ethical frameworks for responsible AI usage, and helping attendees develop confidence in using generative AI responsibly.

Proposals to present at the summit are now being accepted from educators, students, professionals, and community members. Submissions are due by midnight on January 23, 2026. Presenters will be notified by January 30. Multiple session formats are available to promote meaningful exchange among participants.

Anyone interested in attending can complete an interest form online; registration opens February 1 with details sent via email to those who submit the form.

For more information about submitting proposals or event details, contact Ann Blakeslee at ablakesle@emich.edu or Kristine Gatchel at kgatche1@emich.edu.
