Eastern Michigan University Esports opens enrollment for second year of summer camps

Eastern Michigan University announced on Mar. 24 that its Esports program is launching the second year of summer camps for elementary, middle, and high school students. The camps will be held at the EMU Student Center in Ypsilanti throughout July and August, with registration open until three days before each camp’s start date.

The program aims to provide opportunities for students of all genders and age groups to receive professional coaching from EMU Esports staff, play popular games with experienced players, and develop digital media skills through a content creation camp. The initiative seeks to build confidence, improve communication and teamwork abilities, foster connections among campers, and offer workshops on various aspects of esports.

Zachary Lewis, coordinator of the EMU Esports program, said: “For all of our students who attend EMU Esports camps, we hope they have a fun and informative experience. For our elementary students, we prioritize learning how to enjoy gaming in a healthy and fun way. For our middle school students, we prioritize learning the fundamentals of competitive gaming and how it can be a healthy addition to one’s lifestyle. For our high school students, we prioritize mastering key skills to prepare for collegiate and professional esports careers.”

Students are required to bring their own lunch. Fees are set at $64 for one-day camps or $318 for multi-day sessions. Further information about registration is available on the EMU Esports website.
