Eastern Michigan University will hold its 2026 Greek Week from April 13 to 16, featuring student-led events and service initiatives aimed at raising funds and awareness for SafeHouse Center, a nonprofit organization that assists survivors of traumatic experiences in Washtenaw County.
The university said the choice of SafeHouse Center as this year’s philanthropic partner was based on student input gathered through a community-wide survey. The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life asked chapters to vote on causes to support, with SafeHouse emerging as the preferred option.
“This year’s Greek Week is especially meaningful because our students chose the cause themselves,” Alyssa Mohr, coordinator of Fraternity and Sorority Life at EMU, said. “They recognize the importance of the work SafeHouse is doing in our community and wanted to support a cause that directly helps people in need.”
During the week, students will organize fundraising activities such as donation-based events, hands-on service projects like assembling care kits for local shelters, campus engagement opportunities including a field day with dodgeball and obstacle courses, and a movie night with possible donation-based entry. All proceeds will benefit programs run by SafeHouse Center.
Greek Week brings together all 21 chapters across four governing councils at Eastern Michigan University. Students are divided into cross-council teams to encourage collaboration and leadership development. “This is the first time in years that our entire community is coming together for Greek Week, and we’re setting the tone for what this can look like moving forward,” Mohr said. “Our goal is to build something sustainable that empowers our chapters to continue leading these efforts and making an impact year after year.”
Mohr also said: “This is a great example of what happens when students come together with intention. Greek Week is not only about fundraising, but about building connections and showing how our campus community can come together to make a difference.”
