The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) announced on April 6 a series of upcoming training opportunities and outreach efforts aimed at supporting local leaders and the public in protecting lakes, rivers, streams, and wetlands.
These initiatives are intended to help communities better understand environmental regulations that affect them. EGLE offers several webinar series at no or low cost, making them accessible to anyone interested. The Local Leaders Webinar Series is designed specifically for Michigan’s local officials and community leaders to learn more about EGLE’s work and relevant regulations. The NotMiSpecies Webinar Series explores collaborative efforts by agencies, universities, and organizations through the Michigan Invasive Species Program.
Another initiative is the Drinking Water: Protecting MiSource Webinar Series, which highlights ways agencies, communities, universities, organizations, and citizens can promote drinking water source protection. The MiEnviro for Everyone Webinar Series aims to inform residents about available environmental data such as beach conditions, sewage spills, and water permitting information.
Recordings of past webinars are available for viewing online. In addition to virtual offerings, EGLE also hosts live events that can be accessed through its Outreach webpage or event listings.
Looking ahead, EGLE will host the 2026 Michigan Environmental Compliance Conference (MECC) on June 9-10 at the Lansing Center in Lansing. This event is designed for businesses, municipalities, environmental professionals—such as consultants or engineers—and anyone interested in state environmental regulations. A dedicated track will focus on water resource topics.
