The Michigan Department of Transportation announced on April 6 that it will start a $6.8 million project to resurface and improve drainage on US-10/US-31 between Brye Road and US-31 in Mason County. The work is scheduled to begin Monday, April 13, with an estimated completion date in mid-September.
The project aims to improve ride quality and extend the service life of the roadway for drivers traveling between Ludington and Scottville. Lane closures and traffic shifts will be in place throughout the construction period.
According to economic modeling provided by the department, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 57 jobs during its duration.
The Michigan Department of Transportation manages nearly 10,000 miles of state highways, more than 4,800 bridges, over 2,700 miles of non-motorized trails, as well as railroad tracks and airports across Michigan according to the official website.
