The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) announced on Apr. 14 the launch of its new Water Infrastructure Grants Dashboard, a tool that displays active water infrastructure grant programs managed by the agency’s Water Infrastructure Funding and Financing Section’s Grants Unit.

The dashboard is intended to help stakeholders and community members easily access information about ongoing water infrastructure projects throughout Michigan. By providing approximate project locations and key details such as funding sources, total award amounts, project summaries, and current status, EGLE aims to increase transparency around public investments in water systems.

“By sharing this information, EGLE aims to support transparency, strengthen public understanding of infrastructure investments, and help individuals identify projects relevant to their communities or areas of interest,” the department said in its announcement.

Water infrastructure grants are used by counties, cities, villages, townships, authorities and other public entities to address environmental and public health concerns in public water systems. These grants contribute to improvements in water quality as well as system reliability and sustainability over time.

The dashboard covers several major grant programs including Drinking Water Asset Management (DWAM), Consolidation and Contamination Risk Reduction (C2R2), Substantial Public Health Risk Program (SPHRP), Community Technical Managerial Financial Support for Lead Line Replacement (TMF), Drinking Water/Wastewater/Stormwater ARP Grants addressing Safe Drinking Water Act requirements or other concerns; EPA Emerging Contaminants in Small & Disadvantaged Communities (EC SDC); and EPA Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN).

To learn more about EGLE’s Water Infrastructure Grants or explore the new dashboard further, residents can visit the agency’s website or contact them directly at EGLE-DWGrants@Michigan.gov.
