Public hearings will be held by City Council on May 10, 2022 to receive comments on the following:

Zoning Ordinance Text Amendment: Child Care Center as Permissible Use in CN-SF, CN-Mid, and CN Zoning Districts

City Council will consider a proposed amendment to City Code Chapter 122, Section 122-441. The proposed amendment would make child care centers a special land use in the CN-SF, CN-Mid, and CN zoning districts. Planning Commission heard and reviewed the text amendment at their April 20, 2022 meeting.

Zoning Ordinance Text Amendment: Research & Development and Similar Uses as Permissible Uses in Center Zoning District

City Council will consider proposed amendments the City Code Chapter 122. The proposed amendments would:

  • Amend the definition of research & development-related uses (Section 122-203), and allow them as special land uses in the Center zoning district (122-446). Additionally it would amend specific standards for certain uses provisions in Article V Division 1. 
  • Also define the following terms: micro-electromechanical systems (MEMs), maker spaces, autonomous vehicle rideshare, mobility, and vehicle technological services.
  • Allow the following land uses as accessory uses in the Center zoning district: autonomous vehicle rideshare; vehicle technological services; indoor vehicle storage, and electric mobility charging stations.

Planning Commission heard and reviewed the text amendment at their April 20, 2022 meeting.

The City invites all interested persons to attend this meeting or to send written comments to the City of Ypsilanti, Community & Economic Development Department, One South Huron Street, Ypsilanti, Michigan 48197.  The City of Ypsilanti will provide necessary reasonable auxiliary aids and services, such as signers for the hearing impaired, Limited English Proficiency (LEP) services, and audios of printed materials being considered at the meeting.  Individuals requiring auxiliary aids or services should provide two (2) days’ notice to the City, and contact the City by writing the City Clerk’s Office, One South Huron Street, Ypsilanti, Michigan 48197; or by calling the Clerk’s Office at (734) 483-1100.
