Senator Jon Bumstead, representing Michigan’s 32nd Senate District, has received the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses Regional Heritage Award for the Midwest. The award was presented by the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation during the 22nd Annual NASC Sportsman-Legislator Summit in Memphis, Tennessee.
The recognition was given to Bumstead for his efforts to support sportsmen, defend hunting and fishing traditions in the United States, and safeguard natural resources. In a statement, Bumstead said, “It is a tremendous honor to be recognized by legislators from across the country for our work to protect our great outdoors and preserve access to hunting and fishing for generations to come.”
During the summit, Bumstead also discussed his legislative proposal aimed at allowing hunter education and firearm safety courses in schools.
The NASC Sportsman-Legislator Summit is an annual event that brings together state legislative sportsmen’s caucus members and partners nationwide. It serves as a platform for discussion and collaboration on strategies to promote and protect the interests of American sportsmen and women within state legislatures. This year’s summit included over 320 participants, among them 85 legislators from 25 states as well as leaders from state and federal agencies, conservation groups, and outdoor industry professionals.
