The Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency announced on April 15 the expansion of its seminar offerings for employers, aimed at helping them activate and use the new MiUI user platform. The agency said these daily sessions will assist employers in transitioning from the older Michigan Web Account Manager system to MiUI.

The change is significant because all employers are required to activate their MiUI accounts, regardless of whether they use a third-party administrator. The seminars are designed to help users find their activation codes and complete setup steps, providing flexibility for organizations that need immediate support as they adapt to the updated platform.

In addition to daily account activation sessions at 10 a.m., weekly Employer/TPA Seminars on Activation and Wage Reporting will be held on April 15 and April 22. These seminars focus on preparing quarterly wage reports and submitting payments through MiUI before the Monday, April 27 deadline. Reports can no longer be submitted using the previous MiWAM system.

Employers interested in attending can sign up by selecting UIA Coaching Sessions on the Coaching Sessions webpage at Michigan.gov/UIA. For questions about specific accounts or wage reports, participants are directed to contact the Office of Employer Ombudsman by phone or email as outlined in agency communications.

According to the official website, the Bureau of Labor and Economic Opportunity aims to broaden economic opportunities and foster prosperity for all residents across Michigan. The bureau provides services such as economic development, workforce training, housing support, mobility initiatives, and unemployment assistance as detailed online. It operates within economic development and workforce programs statewide according to state resources.

Phase two of MiUI will roll out for claimants this summer. Other resources offered by UIA include an artificial intelligence-powered chatbot available online for general unemployment questions; an Advocacy Program assisting with appeals; interactive performance dashboards; a modernization workgroup involving business and labor leaders; an employer help center; newsletters like “MiUI Minute”; as well as multiple channels for contacting UIA staff.
