The Michigan Department of Transportation announced on Apr. 13 that the northbound US-131 ramp to westbound I-94 in Kalamazoo will close this week as part of an ongoing project to add an auxiliary lane. The closure is expected to last until mid-September, with the $13.4 million project managed by contractor Milbocker and Sons, Inc.

This closure is significant for local commuters and travelers using these major highways, as it may affect traffic flow and travel times throughout the duration of construction.

According to MDOT, drivers are advised to follow a posted detour route: take northbound US-131 to eastbound I-94, then use the Oakland Drive interchange to reach westbound I-94. Single-lane closures will also continue on northbound US-131 during this phase of work. For ongoing updates and information about current closures, motorists can visit Mi Drive.
