Eastern Michigan University’s GameAbove College of Engineering and Technology will host STEM Day for Ypsilanti Middle School students on March 13 at Sill Hall in Ypsilanti. The event is expected to welcome about 60 local students, offering them exposure to engineering and technology fields through tours, workshops, and meetings with faculty and current students.
The initiative aims to inspire young learners to consider studies and careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. By providing hands-on experiences and direct interaction with university resources, the college seeks to foster early interest in these rapidly growing areas.
“We’re thrilled to welcome students from our own town of Ypsilanti as they visit our college to explore the many opportunities available in engineering and technology,” said Mohamad Qatu, dean of the GameAbove College of Engineering and Technology. “By touring our facilities, meeting with faculty and current students, and engaging in hands-on activities, these young learners gain valuable insight into the diverse programs and career paths offered here at GACET. We are eager to see them return as future students, knowing that early exposure to engineering and tech fields helps spark curiosity and ambition that can shape their academic and professional journeys for years to come.”
The event is part of a broader effort by the college to connect with local schools and encourage more youth to pursue rewarding careers in STEM. The GameAbove College offers programs in areas such as cybersecurity, aviation, construction management, autonomous vehicles, drone technology, among others.
