THE HOUGHTON CITY COUNCIL WILL HOLD PUBLIC HEARINGS AT 5:30 p.m. ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 12, 2023, IN THE CITY CENTER COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 616 SHELDEN AVENUE, TO DISCUSS THE FOLLOWING PROPOSED ORDINANCES:

Proposed Ordinance 2023-330 to amend Chapter 10 of the Houghton City Code regarding animals.  This ordinance regulates the care and control of animals within the city to promote public health and safety.

Proposed Ordinance 2023-331 to amend Chapter 34 of the Houghton City Code to prohibit shipping containers as an accessory building in residential areas.  This ordinance also defines gardens, pollinator gardens, and declares nuisances that pertain to the care and maintenance of lawns and landscaped areas.

The public hearings are a chance for the council to receive public comments on these proposed ordinances.  Copies of the proposed ordinances are available at the Houghton City Clerk’s Office, 616 Shelden Avenue, Houghton between the hours of 8-5 on weekdays and on our website cityofhoughton.com.  The office number is 482-1700.
