How did Washtenaw County-based Lasinski for Michigan PAC become the biggest spender in Q1 2021?

Lasinski for Michigan PAC spent the most out of all the political committees based in cities associated with Washtenaw County during the first quarter of 2021, according to the Michigan Department of State.

The committee paid $2,103 to two vendors.

The largest expense was $500 paid to Troy-based Patricia Joan Petitpren-Laurain for stipend.

The second largest political spend from a committee operating in a city within Washtenaw County during the quarter came from Felicia Brabec for State Representation. It spent $1,927 during the time period on five different vendors.

What’s known as “dark money,” which comes from political non-profits and shell corporations, has greatly increased expenditures and donations in recent elections to record-breaking highs.

Total political expenditures in the 2022 elections amounted to more than $444 million.
