Dexter Community School District Education: 3,386 students were enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 3,386 students enrolled in Dexter Community School District in the 2022-23 school year, 1.2% less than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 52.4% of them were boys, and 47.6% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 91.3% of the Dexter Community School District total enrollment.

Dexter Community School District covers seven schools within Washtenaw County with its main office in Dexter. Among them, Dexter High School recorded the highest enrollment of 1,116 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
