Eastern Michigan University (EMU) has partnered with Target to launch the “Reface My Living Space” initiative, offering two students the chance to win $500 gift cards to decorate their new apartments at Lakeview and Westview Apartments.

With rising living costs, creating a home away from home can be challenging for students. EMU’s partnership with Target aims to ease some financial pressures, allowing students to focus more on their studies and less on furnishing their apartments.

“This opportunity is helpful to our students, especially those who experience financial hardships,” said Jeanette Zalba, director of Housing and Residence Life at Eastern. “Having a comfortable and well-decorated living space can significantly impact a student’s academic performance and overall well-being. We’re grateful to Target for helping our students create a nurturing environment where they can thrive.”

In addition to enhancing their personal living spaces, the selected students will provide a first-hand look at Eastern’s newest living facilities. By sharing their decor journeys, they will help showcase the modern amenities and vibrant atmosphere of Lakeview and Westview Apartments. This effort aims to increase student interest and further the University’s commitment to providing top-tier housing options.

Students residing in Lakeview or Westview Apartments for the Fall semester can apply by submitting a 300-500 word story describing how they would use the Target gift card to decorate their apartment and how this opportunity will support their academic and personal goals.

“At Target, we believe in supporting students and their educational pursuits,” said ….. “We’re excited to partner with Eastern Michigan University to help make student apartments a true home away from home. This collaboration is about more than just decor—it’s about empowering students to succeed by providing them with a comfortable, inspiring space.”

This collaboration not only provides financial support but also encourages creativity as students design their new living spaces. By easing the financial burden, EMU and Target are helping students focus on achieving their academic dreams in a supportive environment.

Interested students can submit an application online. For more information, contact Brittany Mobley at bmobley1@mich.edu.
