Eastern Michigan University is preparing for its Homecoming Week 2024, which will take place from Tuesday, October 15 to Saturday, October 19. The theme for this year's celebration is "Paint it Green!" marking EMU's 175th anniversary with a creative flair. Swoop, the university's mascot, will be featured in reimagined art pieces inspired by famous masterpieces and displayed around campus.
The event lineup includes activities such as Build an Eagle, where participants can create their own plush version of the EMU mascot. Other events include a Campus Kickoff Picnic, games and competitions at the Rec/IM center, a Black Alumni Mixer and Cookout, tours of the renovated Halle Library, tailgating at the stadium, among others. These events aim to foster connections within the EMU community.
"We’ve put together a fantastic lineup for everyone, from students to alumni, to showcase what makes EMU so special—its people,” said Celia Murkowski, chair of the 2024 Homecoming Committee. “We hope to see you throughout the week, with the grand finale being the Homecoming game against Central, where we will cheer on our Eagles to victory!”
