Eastern Michigan University is set to host the 2024 Digital Marketing Workshop, focusing on the intersection of marketing, culture, and artificial intelligence (AI). The event will take place on Friday, November 15, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the EMU Student Center in Ypsilanti. Industry leaders from organizations such as the Detroit Pistons, Google, and Pinterest will be present to discuss how AI is transforming marketing strategies.

The workshop will begin with a keynote address by Bilal Saeed, vice president of brand and marketing for the Detroit Pistons. Saeed will highlight how a culture-first approach influences the Pistons' marketing efforts and how AI supports this strategy. Following his address, he will lead a panel discussion with members of the Pistons marketing team on using AI for content creation and audience targeting.

At 10:50 a.m., Jorel McCree from Pinterest will moderate a session about using AI to boost growth for small and medium-sized businesses. Representatives from Google and local startups will join him to explore innovative applications of AI in business contexts. The event concludes with a lunch panel summarizing key insights and offering practical strategies for participants.

"As an alum of Eastern Michigan University, I’m grateful to be part of this year’s workshop," said Saeed. "Our marketing approach is deeply rooted in Detroit’s cultural heritage, and we use AI to amplify that message through effective content and outreach."

"The goal is always to contribute to the community’s success," stated McCree. "We’ll learn from local business leaders how to harness AI responsibly and at scale."

Participants can expect valuable knowledge on AI-driven creative content and performance marketing from leading industry experts.

Tickets are available until November 15 with an early bird discount priced at $35 for general admission until October 31. Admission includes breakfast, lunch, and parking.

Eastern Michigan University was founded in 1849 as Michigan's second oldest public university. It currently serves nearly 13,000 students across various degree programs through its several colleges.
