Eastern Michigan University is organizing a two-day event called "Colorful," centered around creativity, community, and emotional well-being. The event, part of EMU Dining's JOY•FUL series, will take place on April 8 and 9, 2025. It aims to foster joy through food, movement, and meaningful interaction, drawing inspiration from color theory and its effects on mood and energy.

Activities will begin on April 8 at The Commons, the university's dining center, featuring immersive art, wellness-focused food, interactive installations, and music in a vibrant atmosphere. Greg Richards, director of marketing for E|Dining, stated, "College life can be stressful, and we wanted to create something that's not only fun but also intentionally restorative. Colorful is more than just a celebration of spring—it's a way to say, ‘Hey, your joy matters here.’"

The celebration will continue on April 9 with the ColorFul Run and Field Day at the Rec/IM outdoor basketball courts. This event includes a one-mile color run and various activities like games, face painting, music, and a pop-up farmers market. Participants are encouraged to wear white to fully experience the colorful aspect of the event.

Richards highlighted the importance of student and staff involvement, encouraging departments and student organizations to host activity tables or volunteer. Over 1,000 students are expected to participate, with volunteers playing a crucial role in ensuring a seamless experience.

The event is open to the entire EMU community, with updates available online at emichdining.com and on social media platforms. EMU, established in 1849, is the second-oldest public university in Michigan, serving nearly 13,000 students. It offers more than 300 majors through various colleges and has received recognition for its excellence and diversity.
