The Eastern Michigan University (EMU) Police Department has responded to allegations against a former police officer. "These allegations are deeply troubling to me and our entire team, and we take them very seriously," said Matthew Lige, EMU Chief of Police and Executive Director of Public Safety.

Upon learning of the situation, the university placed the individual on administrative leave and began procedures for termination. During an investigation by the Michigan State Police (MSP), Sixth District, the officer resigned from his position.

According to current information from MSP's investigation, the former officer's actions appear to have been directed at a co-worker. There is no evidence suggesting similar behavior towards others on campus. The investigation by the Michigan State Police is still ongoing.

"As stated, he is no longer employed by the EMU Police Department," added Lige.
