State Representative Jason Woolford (R-Howell) has extended an invitation to all active-duty and retired Marines in Michigan to attend a special session at the state Capitol on Thursday, November 6. The event will honor the 250th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps.
Woolford plans to present a commemorative resolution during the House session that recognizes the Marine Corps’ historical milestones and its ongoing legacy of service. Marines attending are encouraged to wear their Dress Blue uniforms.
“The United States Marine Corps has stood as a symbol of courage, discipline, and dedication to our country for 250 years,” said Woolford. “It is my privilege to recognize their sacrifice and unwavering commitment to freedom. I hope to see Marines from every corner of our state join us in Lansing for this historic day.”
Woolford is a Marine veteran, and his family shares ties with the Corps; both his wife and daughter have served as Marines.
“The Marine Corps is more than a branch of the military. It’s a brotherhood and a family,” said Woolford. “For my wife, my daughter, and myself, it’s a calling that has shaped who we are, and it’s a privilege to honor all who have worn the uniform.”
The resolution will be presented in the Michigan House chamber at the State Capitol. Those seeking further information can contact Rep. Woolford’s office by phone or email.
