Eastern Michigan University has introduced a new mobile application, Eagle Ready, aimed at improving campus safety and preparedness. The app is now available for free download on both the App Store and Google Play.

Matthew Lige, executive director of public safety and chief of police at EMU, stated, “We’re excited to launch Eagle Ready and put this resource into the hands of our students, faculty, and staff. We recognized a real need for a tool that makes safety information quick and easy to access, and this app delivers exactly that.”

Eagle Ready offers several features tailored to the needs of the university community. These include direct emergency contacts, a panic button with real-time location sharing, and a Friend Walk tool designed to help users travel safely on campus. The app also provides interactive maps for navigating campus facilities, offline access to emergency plans, instant safety alerts, and links to student support resources.

The new platform builds on existing tools such as EMU’s Rave alert system by adding more resources for timely communication during emergencies or other incidents affecting campus operations.

Lige emphasized the university’s focus on safety: “The safety of our community is our top priority, and Eagle Ready is another step forward in making sure our campus community has the resources they need right at their fingertips. With features tailored to EMU, the app ensures that in moments of uncertainty, our community knows exactly where to turn for help.”

Eastern Michigan University was established in 1849 and currently enrolls nearly 13,000 students across various undergraduate and graduate programs. The institution offers over 300 academic options through its different colleges. EMU is regularly recognized by national publications for its achievements in education quality and diversity.
