Rylee Seguin from Middleville, Michigan, has been named a 2025 Presidential Scholar at Eastern Michigan University (EMU). She is among 20 incoming first-year students selected for this distinction, which recognizes high academic achievement. The group of scholars has an average ACT score of 28, SAT score of 1280, and a GPA of 4.11.

The EMU Presidential Scholarship covers full tuition, fees, and four years of room and board, with a value of up to $100,000. Recipients are active members of The Honors College and participate in activities focused on critical thinking, community engagement, and leadership.

Ann Eisenberg, dean of The Honors College at EMU said: “The Honors College is proud to recognize our 20 new Presidential Scholars for their many accomplishments in high school. They not only achieved a high level of academic success, but they also embraced opportunities for leadership and community engagement. We expect that they will make the most of their time at EMU and will make an impact on the institution. We are looking forward to celebrating their future accomplishments and successes.”

Seguin is majoring in secondary education at EMU. She commented: “Sometimes, when I walk around campus, I have to pause as I remember the huge gift I was given. Although this is my first semester at Eastern, I already know this program will set me up for success. As someone navigating my freshman year, I appreciate having a strong community of people who want to see me prosper.”

During her time at Thornapple Kellogg High School, Seguin served on student council during her sophomore year and took dual enrollment classes at Davenport University. She received the AP Scholar Award as well as the College Board’s Rural and Small-Town Recognition Award. As a member of the National Honor Society for two years, she volunteered with blood drives and tutoring programs as well as her former martial arts school. In her senior year she dual-enrolled at Grand Rapids Community College where she earned Presidential List honors both semesters before graduating in the top ten of her class.

“I put in a lot of work to get here, and with the opportunities and connections that will come from this scholarship, I'd do it all again without question,” Seguin said. “My family and I are beyond grateful, as we never saw a scholarship like this as a possibility. This gratitude keeps me motivated to give back to the Eastern community.”

Seguin plans to become a high school science teacher through EMU’s College of Education.

Eastern Michigan University states that its Presidential Scholarship demonstrates its commitment to student success and leadership development.
