Eastern Michigan University will hold its first Mental Health and Wellness Fair on October 22, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the EMU Student Center in Ypsilanti. The event is organized by the university’s Building a Community of Caring task force in partnership with several community organizations.

The fair is open to students, faculty, staff, and residents of Washtenaw County. It is designed to promote open discussions about mental health, provide information about local wellness resources, and encourage self-care practices.

According to the university, “The Mental Health and Wellness Fair aims to raise awareness of mental health resources and empower attendees to take proactive steps toward emotional and physical well-being.”

More than 30 organizations, including BeBetter, Rackham Mental Health Institute, and Therapeutic Recreation, will participate in the event, offering information and interactive activities. Attendees will have access to wellness stations, raffle prizes, a meet-and-greet with Tinker, EMU’s facility dog, face painting, wellness readings, live music, and other self-care activities.

Eastern Michigan University was founded in 1849 and is the second-oldest public university in Michigan.
