Lauren Post of Findlay, Ohio, has been named a 2025 Presidential Scholar at Eastern Michigan University (EMU). She is one of 20 incoming first-year students selected for the prestigious award. The cohort stands out for its academic achievements, with an average ACT score of 28, SAT score of 1280, and a GPA of 4.11.
The EMU Presidential Scholarship provides up to $100,000 to cover full tuition, fees, and four years of room and board. Recipients participate actively in The Honors College, where they are encouraged to develop critical thinking skills and engage in community leadership.
Ann Eisenberg, dean of The Honors College, said: “The Honors College is proud to recognize our 20 new Presidential Scholars for their many accomplishments in high school. They not only achieved a high level of academic success, but they also embraced opportunities for leadership and community engagement. We expect that they will make the most of their time at EMU and have a positive impact on the institution. We are looking forward to celebrating their future accomplishments and successes.”
During her high school years, Post was noted for her leadership roles as camp counselor; president of both the Key Club and the 4-H Club; choir section leader; mentor; choir president; as well as being active in several honor societies including National Honor Society and Science National Honor Society. She earned recognition such as scholar musician awards and was honored as Defensive Player of the Year in soccer.
Post commented on her approach: “I've always been someone who expects the best out of myself, no matter what,” she said. “Having this mindset helps to keep me motivated because I know there's always more left in me to give. I want to be proud of everything I do and accomplish in life, and the best way to do that is by setting high goals for myself.”
She graduated with a 4.0 GPA and ranked seventh out of her class of 350 students. In addition to extracurricular activities like volunteering as a candy striper and mentoring younger students, Post received several honors including most dynamic performer in choir competitions.
Looking ahead at EMU, Post plans to pursue combined bachelor’s and master’s degrees in occupational therapy focused on pediatrics.
“I would encourage anyone who's considering applying for this scholarship to take the time and do it,” said Post. “Aside from the financial aid it offers, it provides you with a cohort of other great young individuals that I have had a great time meeting and becoming friends with.”
The scholarship program reflects Eastern Michigan University's commitment to supporting student achievement through academic opportunity—qualified seniors can apply during their final year in high school.
Eastern Michigan University serves over 12,000 students across undergraduate through doctoral programs since its founding in 1849.
