City council members in Ann Arbor are in no hurry to support a resolution backing the legalization of “magic” mushrooms and related psychedelic substances, according to MLive.
Decriminalize Nature Ann Arbor’s (DNA2) proposal to the city council was a topic of conversation as Jane Lumm, I-2nd Ward, compared the 722-word document to a rock song. She described the authors of the proposal as “folks who want to bring back the good-old hippie days,” MLive reported.
She went as far as comparing the proposal to “White Rabbit," which was released in 1967. The lyrics to that song say: One pill makes you larger and one pill makes you small | And the ones that mother gives you don't do anything at all | Go ask Alice when she’s 10 feet tall,” according to MLive.
DNA2 insists that magic mushrooms boost psychological and physical methods, among other things. The group said it is pushing for it to be legalized so those who use it won’t be afraid to be arrested and/or prosecuted.
So far, no members of the city council have stepped up to support the proposal.
