Heat Advisory Issued for Michiana, Wednesday August 11

City of Niles issued the following announcement on Aug 11.

WNDU News has issued a heat advisory for the Michiana area for Wednesday, August 11, due to the high temperatures and humidity we have been experiencing.  These tips from the CDC can help prevent heat-related illnesses.  Their model, "Stay Cool, Stay Hydrated, Stay Informed," provides helpful tips to beat the heat.  

Stay Cool

- Wear appropriate clothing.  

- Stay in an air conditioned place as much as possible.

- Pace yourself.

- Wear Sunscreen.

- Do not leave children or pets in the car.

- Avoid heavy meals

Stay Hydrated

- Drink plenty of fluids.

- Replace salt and minerals.

- Keep your pets hydrated.

Stay Informed

- Check for updates.

- Know the signs of heat-related illnesses.

- Monitor those at high risk.

These are just some of the ways you can prevent heat-related illness.  There is no shame in taking it easy on hot days like today!
