Traffic Concerns re: Weaver Avenue Closure

City of Fremont issued the following announcement on Aug 21.

Following the City’s Facebook post to inform residents of its recent decision to close a section of North Weaver Avenue, the City has received comments and concerns regarding traffic congestion on North Division Avenue in front of Daisy Brook Elementary School.   The City has considered measures for alleviating this issue for a length of time, some of which will be implemented before the start of school on August 30th.  We’ll continue working with school officials and monitoring these issues as we progress into the school year as well.

First, the City will be removing on-street parking along North Division Avenue north of Cherry Street, to accommodate striping of the street for three lanes of traffic.  No parking of vehicles along the west side of Division will allow for better traffic flow; the third east lane will be for right-turn only.

Second, the school already took measures last year to reroute bussing off Division Avenue as much as possible; the City is coordinating the school’s use of the City’s service drive between Pathfinder and Daisy Brook schools for school buses only.

The City is considering additional measures which will address student safety and traffic flows when school begins.

The City understands your concerns and appreciates your patience as we address these matters.
