City of Fenton Celebrates Home Depot and Jeff Hartsaw for Pandemic Supply Donations

A15

Monday’s Fenton City Council meeting, mayor Sue Osborn presented proclamations celebrating the Fenton Home Depot and Store Manager Jeff Hartsock for donations to the city during the early months of the Covid-19 global pandemic.

Home Depot Store No. 2741 was presented with a plaque “in recognition of your assistance and generous donations of personal protective equipment to the City of Fenton during the Covid-19 pandemic.”

Osborn proclaimed April 26 to be Jeff Hartsaw Day, saying that he stepped up in a big way to make the frenetic search for masks and other supplies a little less stressful.

“The masks Jeff donated kept us in good supply for the first two to three months” of the pandemic, she said. “Those early days were tough, and these donations kept City of Fenton Public Safety employees safe and on the job.”

Hartsaw, a retail veteran who came to the Fenton Home Depot four years ago, said that the Home Depot encourages its stores to be an active part of their communities.

“I’m happy to work for a company that allows me to do the right thing,” he said. “I appreciate the honor very much.”

The store’s pandemic donations didn’t just help the city, which in turn donated some of the Home Depot N95 masks to local hospitals and ambulance services.

The Home Depot also helped other organizations with donations of masks, gloves, sanitation supplies and more.

“Anytime we got stuff in, we’d put it on a truck and go knock on doors,” Hartsaw said. “Everything happens for a reason, and I was just happy we could help.”
