Diagnosed with leukemia at age 15, Alex McCready stepped from a world filled with basketball courts and homework to one centered around hospital rooms and blood tests.
When doctors cleared him to return to school, he never slowed down. His senior year in high school, he earned a spot on the varsity soccer team and was crowned homecoming king.
Now 22, Alex is in his third year at Michigan State University, studying human biology. "If all goes right, I want to end up working at Helen Devos Children's Hospital," Alex said.
