2023 BLAZE & BLUE CAMP - Registration is now open.
Blaze & Blue camp is a free, hands-on program for young women 13-18 years of age.
Participants will experience the most challenging and exciting tasks in firefighting, first response and law enforcement in a supportive, educational and interactive environment. The camp also provides access to the women that work in these roles who are breaking down barriers and stereotypes in these non-traditional career fields. The four-day camp will be held Monday, June 26-Thursday, June 29, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
Please note: This camp is to expose young women to careers in public safety. Campers will be participating in real activities and scenarios that fire and police perform (including but not limited to) rappelling, search and rescue, fire extinguisher training, vehicle extraction, how traffic stops are performed, crime scene investigation, static taser deployment and virtual reality training that includes real looking weapons similar to a handgun that function with air and emit a laser.
Registration will be open Tuesday, March 14, 8 a.m. Camp space is limited and priority will be given to Ann Arbor residents.
The camp is free, lunch is provided daily and participants receive a Blaze & Blue t-shirt.
