Women's History Month | Ann Arbor Police Department FB
As we celebrate the last day of Women's History Month, we are featuring a woman who recently made AAPD history.
Since joining the Ann Arbor Police Department in 1999, Aimee Metzer has served as a patrol officer, sergeant, lieutenant and as a deputy chief. In July 2022, she was selected to serve as Interim Police Chief – becoming the first woman to ever lead the AAPD.
GET TO KNOW I/CHIEF METZER: She is married with two young children. Her and her wife are also dog moms to Zoey the boxer. She is a diehard football fan. In fact, her Buckeyes have finished in SECOND place in back to back years in the Big Ten East.
FUN FACT: Interim Chief Metzer was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio (yes, it is okay if you just rolled your eyes while reading that.)
This month we recognized many of our female officers and civilian staff members who make the AAPD such a special and diverse department. We are tremendously grateful for their contributions today and every day.
