Eastern Michigan University is set to unveil its newest living space, Lakeview Apartments, in August. The modern apartment-style complex features spacious rooms and scenic views of the University's Student Center and ponds. A “Lakeview Reveal” event will be held on Wednesday, July 31 at 10 a.m., offering attendees a first-hand look at the finished apartments, which include 400 beds in studio, two-bedroom, and four-bedroom configurations.

The addition of Lakeview Apartments marks a significant milestone in EMU's $200 million "Welcome Home: Campus Living Redefined" plan launched in 2022. This initiative represents one of the most substantial transformations of the Eastern Michigan University campus in decades.

“With this year marking Eastern’s 175th anniversary, we’re eagerly anticipating welcoming students back to a campus transformation featuring contemporary living and learning spaces,” said James Smith, president of Eastern Michigan University. “The new spaces will continue our efforts to support student success at every level during their time at Eastern.”

Westview Apartments will also be ready for fall occupancy, providing an additional 300 beds with similar apartment configurations. Renovations are being completed on other residence halls across campus this summer, including Sellers and Phelps halls. Previous upgrades were made to Downing, Putnam, and Walton residence halls in 2023. These enhancements include new air conditioning units in every room and improved WiFi connectivity.

Further information about the timeline and extensive campus engagement involved in these projects can be found on the Welcome Home webpage.

Additional projects scheduled for completion this fall include a state-of-the-art digital arts complex and a newly renovated library.

Founded in 1849, Eastern Michigan University is the second oldest public university in Michigan. It serves over 13,000 students pursuing various degrees across its multiple colleges. National publications frequently recognize EMU for its excellence, diversity, and commitment to applied education.
