City of Niles issued the following announcement on Nov 23.
The wait is over - registration for the Greater Niles Sights & Lights Decorating Contest is now open! Participants must register before midnight on December 1, 2021. Here's how it works:
- Enter a photo of your home, business, or neighborhood at leaderpub.com by midnight Dec. 1, 2021.
- Come back and vote for your favorites from Dec. 6 - Dec. 10.
- Find out the top five finalists in each category on Dec. 12.
- Then, vote for your favorite between Dec. 13 - Dec. 17.
- Winners will be announced on Dec. 18!
Note: All participants must register (for free) to participate. ALL voting takes place at leaderpub.com.
The contest has accrued over $4,000 in prizes from our generous business owners in the Niles area. When Niles gets together, we make magic happen!
PRIZES
The top THREE winners in each category will be awarded prizes donated by local businesses.
First Place: $275 value
Second Place: $175 value
Third Place: $150 Value
The event also offers different categories so neighbors can really show off their holiday spirit! The categories include:
Clark W. Griswold's Exterior Illumination Award: Channel your inner Griswold. This is the display you can see from the moon.
The Silent Night Traditional Award: May your display be merry and bright. This is the display that captures the traditional holiday motif.
Jingle all the Way Interactive Award: Music. Inflatables. Interaction. This is the interactive display that makes the viewer a part of the show!
The Winter Wonderland Award: More than just the house. This is the display that best incorporates the front yard or landscape into the presentation.
The Hollywood Award: Pick a theme, any theme! This is the display that uses creative and thematic design to express the holiday spirit.
The Cousin Eddie Tackiest Display Award: Some displays are just a bit *different.* This is the display that (hopefully purposely) makes us laugh!
Santa's Workshop Award: Local businesses (workshops!) can get in on the action, too! This is the best business display in Greater Niles!
The Bling the Block Award: Show your neighborhood pride and light up your block. This award goes to the neighborhood or street with the most holiday spirit!
