City of Ann Arbor Police Department issued the following announcement on Feb 28.
Congratulations to Sgt. Shane Dennis on his retirement! During his 25 year career he served as a patrol officer for 15 years and an undercover narcotics detective for 1 year before being promoted to patrol sergeant in 2013.
He remained on patrol for 6 years before moving to the detective bureau for the final 3 years of his career. In addition, he served in various capacities and leadership roles on the Ann Arbor Special Tactics Unit/Washtenaw Metro SWAT for 18 years; department firearms Instructor/chief firearms instructor for 9 years and active shooter training instructor for 5 years.
He earned multiple awards for his service to the community including the AAPD’s Officer of the Year in 2010. Enjoy retirement, Sgt. Dennis, and thank you for your service!
