What are your questions about the new trash pick-up and recycling program with GFL? We’re putting together a list of FAQs and would like your input. Please post them here.
As a refresher, here’s the background info.
To help residents become familiar with the new trash and recycling bins to be used by GFL Environmental USA, Inc., two sample bins have been set up inside City Hall. Residents can view them and take them for a spin in the lobby area. Their big back wheels make them easy to move in and out of garages and other storage areas.
The 95-gallon bin will be used for trash and the 65-gallon bin for recycling. These will be delivered to homes, condos and apartments that contract with the city for trash/recycling, later this spring. In addition to the bins or instead of them, residents may use bags and other bins with a 35-gallon capacity.
The first week of June will be a transition week as Waste Management ends its contract on Tuesday, May 31 (no trash pick-up on Memorial Day, May 30), and GFL begins trash/recycling pick-up on Wednesday, June 1. Details are still being worked out and may change as this date gets closer.
GFL, with input from DPW, will distribute an informative brochure to residents later this spring. City News and the city website will also have regular updates.
