Eastern Michigan University aviation students attended the Alpha Eta Rho National Conference in Washington, D.C., from April 18-21, 2024. The event provided students with opportunities to engage with national board members, connect with recruiters at a career fair, acquire internships, and network with others passionate about the aviation industry.

According to the Alpha Eta Rho website, the fraternity was founded in 1929 to unite students interested in commercial aviation. The organization has maintained its motto: "Collegiate Aviation Leaders of Today... Aviation Industry Leaders of Tomorrow."

During the conference, attendees participated in leadership workshops, networking sessions, and professional development seminars. Pete Muntean, CNN aviation and transportation correspondent and seasoned pilot, delivered a keynote address.

Ibrahim Aldhaibani, a senior studying Aviation Flight Technology and treasurer for EMU's chapter of Alpha Eta Rho, emphasized the conference's value. “Attending the national conference expanded my understanding of the various career opportunities available while also offering exceptional networking opportunities with pilots and recruiters from companies and organizations such as the National Business Aviation Association, Endeavor Air, Republic Airways, the US Air Force, Piedmont, and many others,” said Aldhaibani.

“This conference allowed me to connect with students from other institutions and proudly represent Eastern Michigan University.”
