Eastern Michigan University has announced AnnaBelle Favre as a Presidential Scholar for 2024. Favre, from Port Huron, Michigan, is among 21 students selected for this prestigious award, which recognizes first-year students for their academic achievements, leadership qualities, and community involvement.

“I am so grateful to have received the Presidential Scholarship at EMU,” said Favre. “I have been working several jobs and saving up money for college since I turned 16, and with this scholarship, I am able to keep saving and go to graduate school in the future.”

The EMU Presidential Scholarship is valued at up to $100K and covers full tuition, fees, room, and board for four years. Recipients are active members of The Honors College at EMU, engaging in critical thinking and community activities. This aligns with EMU's mission to support students in achieving educational goals while making a positive impact.

Favre graduated from Blue Water Middle College Academy and earned an associate’s degree from St. Clair County Community College. In high school, she was involved in various clubs and programs such as the National Honor Society and student council. At EMU, she plans to study elementary education.

“We are excited to have such an impressive group of scholars join us at EMU this fall,” said Anne Eisenberg, dean of the Honors College. “They come from different backgrounds, cultures, and countries but share a passion for learning, service, and leadership.”

Favre looks forward to pursuing her degree with her family in mind. “My parents and grandparents have seen me grow into the person I am today... now I get to be the one reading to kids.”

Eligible students can apply for the Presidential Scholarship during their senior year of high school.

Founded in 1849, Eastern Michigan University serves nearly 13,000 students across various disciplines. It offers over 300 majors through its colleges dedicated to arts and sciences; business; education; engineering; health services; among others.
