Eastern Michigan University has announced Kazimir Reszetar as a 2024 Presidential Scholar. Reszetar, from Milan, Michigan, is among 21 students awarded this honor, which recognizes first-year students for academic excellence, leadership, and community commitment.
The EMU Presidential Scholarship covers full tuition, fees, and room and board for four years, valued at up to $100K. It supports scholars who are active in The Honors College at EMU. "The most meaningful part of this award is the financial freedom it provides me to focus on my academics and community," said Reszetar. He plans to use this opportunity to volunteer in biology and biochemistry.
Reszetar graduated from the Early College Alliance at EMU and is pursuing degrees in biology and biochemistry. He participated in research projects during high school and was involved with Diversiteam and as a peer mentor. Outside of EMU, he volunteered in wildlife conservation projects. Post-graduation, he aims to apply for a PhD globally.
Currently, Reszetar collaborates with EMU biology professor Katherine Greenwald on unisexual salamander mating rituals research. “They mate with members of multiple other salamander species," explained Reszetar.
Ann Eisenberg, dean of The Honors College, expressed enthusiasm about the new scholars: "We are excited to have such an impressive group of scholars join us at EMU."
The scholarship aligns with EMU's mission to promote student success and engagement. High school seniors can apply for the scholarship.
Founded in 1849, Eastern Michigan University serves nearly 13,000 students across various disciplines through its colleges. For more information about EMU or the Presidential Scholarship program, visit their website.
