Eastern Michigan University (EMU) has received recognition for its online master's programs in several categories by Online Masters Colleges. The 2024 rankings highlight EMU's programs as the Best Online Master's Programs in Michigan, among the top 20 for Best Master's in Sociology Online Programs, and within the top 10 for Best Master's in Clinical Research Online Programs.
"EMU is honored to be recognized for our commitment to offering affordable, high-quality online master’s programs," stated Jennifer Kellman-Fritz, dean of the College of Health and Human Services. "At Eastern, we empower students to pursue the education they need in a way that works best for them, fostering a supportive community to help them thrive."
The ranking methodology by Online Masters Colleges used data from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System and the National Center for Education Statistics. Factors considered include tuition affordability, quality of instructors, retention rates, and graduation rates.
EMU provides nearly 40 online master's programs across various fields such as tax consulting, human nutrition, and psychology. A significant advantage is that students enrolled in fully online programs pay in-state tuition fees regardless of their location. The university's offerings are tailored to meet students' needs with flexible combined and accelerated program options.
This acknowledgment follows Newsweek’s recent accolade naming EMU as one of the top 250 universities nationwide for pursuing an online degree in 2025. This recognition underscores EMU's focus on flexibility and affordability.
