Eastern Michigan University (EMU) has been recognized for its online education programs by U.S. News & World Report in the 2025 rankings. EMU achieved the No. 35 position for best online veteran graduate education and advanced to No. 120 for graduate education overall.
“We’re incredibly proud to be recognized by the U.S. News & World Report for our programs,” stated Ryan Gildersleeve, dean of the College of Education at EMU. He emphasized that these rankings highlight EMU's dedication to delivering high-quality, accessible education, particularly for veterans.
The rankings were determined using data from over 1,700 universities and considered factors such as faculty credentials, student services and technology, student engagement, and expert opinions on academic quality. Additionally, master's degree programs were evaluated based on student excellence metrics like undergraduate GPAs and acceptance rates.
EMU’s Veteran Services program is noted for providing personalized support to veteran graduate students through access to student coaches and Veterans Affairs representatives who assist with navigating healthcare systems and other benefits.
The College of Education at EMU offers various graduate programs aimed at preparing students for careers in teaching, leadership roles in PK-12 schools and universities, mental health counseling, student affairs, and speech-language pathology.
Beyond the College of Education's achievements, EMU provides over 40 fully online undergraduate and graduate programs across business, education, healthcare, and technology disciplines. These programs offer in-state tuition rates regardless of a student's location.
This recognition follows previous accolades from Newsweek and Online Masters Colleges for outstanding online degree offerings as well as Military Times' acknowledgment of EMU as Michigan’s most military-friendly university in 2024.
