Eastern Michigan University is set to host the 2025 Sesi Midwest Entrepreneurship Conference and Skandalaris Business Plan Competition. The event will take place on March 14, 2025, at the EMU Student Center Ballroom in Ypsilanti. It will begin with breakfast and a welcome address at 9 a.m. and conclude by 1:30 p.m.

“This conference is a celebration of innovation and the entrepreneurial spirit,” stated Sanjib Chowdhury, faculty director of EMU's Center for Entrepreneurship. He emphasized that it offers students a platform to develop their ideas while connecting with industry leaders.

The conference aims to bring together students, educators, and business leaders from across the Midwest to promote innovation and entrepreneurship. Participants will hear from keynote speakers, engage in discussions, and observe student entrepreneurs showcasing their creativity during the Skandalaris Business Plan Competition.

Dilip Dubey, an AI pioneer and entrepreneur, will serve as the breakfast keynote speaker. He will discuss how artificial intelligence can transform businesses. Following this, Achsha Jones will moderate a panel discussion featuring regional entrepreneurs who will share insights on entrepreneurship challenges and opportunities.

Justin Onwenu, director of Entrepreneurship and Economic Opportunity for Detroit, will be the lunch keynote speaker. He plans to highlight his efforts in empowering Detroit residents and supporting startups.

The Skandalaris Business Plan Competition is a key part of the event where student finalists from high school and college categories present their business plans to judges for cash prizes and awards.

The annual conference is sponsored by the Sesi family and Robert Skandalaris. Their support has been crucial in providing opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs in the region.

Attendance at the conference is free but requires registration. More information about registration can be found on Eastern Michigan University's website.
