Eastern Michigan University's Bachelor of Science degree in simulation, animation, and gaming (SAG) was recognized once again, securing a position among the top 25 animation programs in the United States, as reported by Animation Career Review. This publication, now in its 14th year, has consistently acknowledged EMU’s program in its rankings.

"Simulation, Animation, and Gaming is thrilled to be recognized by the Animation Career Review," said Ryan English, assistant professor in EMU’s SAG program. "Animation and game design are ingrained in our society, and EMU's School of Art and Design is positioned to help propel students in these ever-evolving and exciting fields."

Besides its national ranking, Eastern Michigan University achieved the No. 5 spot for the best animation school programs in Michigan. The SAG program, accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, provides students with bachelor's degrees and minors focused on simulation, animation, and gaming. The program integrates traditional art mediums with creative writing, animation, and 3D camerawork, among other fields.

Animation Career Review began its rankings in 2012, aiming to assist aspiring animators and designers in identifying superior academic programs. This year, it evaluated 207 schools based on factors such as graduation and retention rates, academic reputation, and program depth.

“Over the past fourteen years, Animation Career Review has generated nearly 16 million unique visitors, with an average of over 1.1 million per year,” said Shawn Harrell, public relations director at Animation Career Review. “We sincerely hope that in that time, the schools represented in our annual rankings have benefited from the exposure to the prospective animation students and their parents who use our site as a starting point in their college search process.”

Founded in 1849, Eastern Michigan University is one of Michigan's oldest public universities, serving nearly 13,000 students. The institution offers over 300 majors, minors, and concentrations across its various colleges and is frequently recognized for its commitment to applied education.
