Eastern Michigan University (EMU) has decided to support the innovative efforts of its faculty by providing Summer Research/Creative Activity Awards to 40 full-time professors. This decision was made official during the Board of Regents meeting held on April 17.

The designated professors will receive a $12,000 stipend, which enables them to focus on individual or collaborative projects from May to August without the typical summer teaching obligations. This initiative encourages the faculty to invest time and resources in their projects.

The list of recipients includes William Alderman from Music and Dance, who will work on "Farewell to Shadowlands: Americana Folk Guitar and the Modern Percussion Ensemble," and Yvonne Allsop from Health Promotion and Human Performance, focusing on "Menstrual Health Education: An Analysis of Teacher Education." Sydney Batchelder from Psychology is set to investigate the "Vapor & Spirits: Understanding the Concurrent Use of E-Cigarettes and Alcohol Among Undergraduate Students."

Other professors include Selyna Beverly and Minnie Blume from Leadership and Counsel and Health Sciences, respectively, who will explore "Improving Peer Interactions in STEM: An Exploration of Men’s Behaviors in STEM Classrooms." Nancy Bryk from Geography and Geology will delve into “I Have the Best Story for You: Further Research on and Analysis of Recollections of mid-19th century America.”

Rui Chen is set to work on "Printing Path Design for Quality Enhancement in Direct-Printed Flexible Circuits," while Alina Cioletti will focus on "Strategies for Enhancing Wellbeing Among Collegiate Esports Players: A Pilot Study." Margeaux Claude from Fine Arts is exploring "Eutectics and Sustainability in Ceramics."

The list continues with various notable academic pursuits by faculty members across different departments, all aimed at adding value to their respective fields.
