Eastern Michigan University has announced Gabe Muro as a Presidential Scholar for 2024. Muro, from Morenci, Michigan, is among 21 students selected for this honor. The scholarship is awarded to first-year students who excel academically and show leadership and community commitment.

The EMU Presidential Scholarship covers full tuition, fees, and room and board for four years, valued at up to $100K. Scholars are active members of The Honors College at EMU, engaging in critical thinking, community involvement, and leadership opportunities.

"This scholarship is an incredible gift allowing me to pursue my career dreams without the financial burden of the typical college experience," said Muro. "It has connected me with a surfeit of helpful resources through the wisdom of other Presidential Scholars and The Honors College itself."

Muro graduated from Morenci Area High School and aims to become a commercial pilot by studying Aviation Flight Technology. In high school, he participated in various clubs including the National Honors Society and Skills USA.

He also attended the Culinary Arts program at Lenawee Intermediate School District Tech Center. "My experience at the Lenawee Intermediate School District Tech Center was nothing short of phenomenal," said Muro.

Ann Eisenberg, dean of the Honors College, stated: "We are excited to have such an impressive group of scholars join us at EMU and the Honors College this fall.”

The scholarship aligns with EMU's goal to promote student success so they can achieve academic goals while impacting the world positively.
